Realtors today face a great challenge with health insurance. Pre-existing conditions eliminate just about everyone who has seen a doctor in the past five years. Age and other characteristics push this business comunnity to the limit. Premiums are completely out of control. This is true if you are talking about quality coverage with a reputable company. (oxy-moron) Lack of regulation, misreprepsentation, and no continuity are just a sample of business as usual. Most Americans are in good health. Most Americans are not self employed. Seniors have Medicare. The poor have Medicaid. Therefore why do we as a nation need to do anything! Well... I will leave that up to you. California Realtors have a good but expensive coverage. Oklahoma Realtors have a plan. North Carolina Realtors have a lousy plan but it is better than the Core Plan endorsed by NAR. This Core plan does not allow for creditable coverage on pre-existing conditions. All in all, the whole thing is a mess. I hope for America that the health care bill passes. Then and only then will all of us have an equal opportunity!
